440 Reunion Activities

440 Restoration Project
The Brick Project It has been over 60 years since our beloved Bishop James J. Hinsley, Sr. laid the first brick to build the edifice at 440 Gardner Street. Since that time, five congregations have occupied the property and countless churches and leaders have emerged from those hallowed grounds.
The effects of his ministry and mantle are ever present today. For those who witnessed the miracles of 440 Gardner, this is your time to revel, marvel and admonish the greatness of God by keeping the legacy alive. As a new member, this is your opportunity to become a part of something empowering and discover the life-transforming works of God during our time which will continue to inspire you. From the inception of 440 Gardner, God has and still is the Prestigious Architect of our foundation.
Now it is time for us to set aside a time to Relive, Restore and Revive 440. To accomplish this, we have established The Brick Walkway Project and Commemorative Wall Project. The bricks will form a walkway around the church ending at a fountain in the Garden of Prayer and Hope. This will serve as a lasting way to commemorate our loved ones and erect an inclusive reminder of our history. We are making available for purchase to our families, friends and members engraved bricks in 2 sizes. The polished bricks come available as: 4X8 inches and 8X8. A message with your name is sandblasted, engraved and sealed with black epoxy. The wording on your brick message can be
a. Three (3) lines on a 4 X 8 brick with three lines
b. Six (6) lines on a 8 X 8 brick with six lines
Every brick and its wording has a lifetime guarantee to ensure its preservation to the next generation. Won't you join us as we commemorate the continual move of God through years past and years to come. These bricks will be laid into a walkway that leads from the side entrrance of the church to the fountain in what has been named the Garden of Prayer and Hope. When complete this beautiful garden will be open for daily visitors and prayer.
Psalm 102:12-14, 16 "But you, oh Lord, sit enthroned forever; your renown endures through all generations. You will arise and have compassion on Zion, for it is time to show favor to her; the appointed time has come. For her stones are dear to your servants; her very dust moves them to pity. For the Lord will rebuild Zion and appear inhis glory." The Wall of Commemoration On the rear of the church, there will be erected a commemorative wall in white marble that tells the story of our rich and illustrative heritage. These marble tiles are available for $500 per tile. We are asking those persons who received their beginning at 440 to sow a seed into this project and also carry the history forth. |
